Artist Needed:

I am looking for a parent volunteer to teach art every other Wednesday from 2:25-2:55 during the afternoon class. You do not need to be a real artist, just be willing to teach simple art concepts to children. Subjects like the color wheel, mixing colors, and fun simple art projects would be perfect. If no one volunteers your children will be forced to suffer through my LAME attempt a being an artist!!! Just kidding, this is just a great way to be involved in your child's classroom. If you are interested, let me know. Thanks for all you do!

Butter......

It worked....we made butter from nothing but a little cream and some salt. The kids did great shaking the bottles until...TA DA...butter.  Pilgrim day was loads of fun, can't wait to see what happens on Native American Day. Here are some pictures of the butter making experience. I have also included the recipe....some of your kids insisted it needed to be posted so that they could make butter for their parents.  Good luck. Add 1 cup heavy whipping cream and a pinch of salt to a tightly sealing jar. Shake, shake and then shake some more. You will know you are done when there is a lump of butter floating around in your jar. ENJOY!!!!

No homework next week!!!!

Next week is a short week so there will be no homework. However, I would LOVE IT if the kids continued to read over the long break. Enjoy the time with your family, I know I will. I am truly thankful for all of you and your amazing children. I am thankful for all your children have taught me in this short time and look forward to the rest of the year to complete my "real" education. Happy Thanksgiving!!!!! See you on November 29th.

Volunteers Needed:

Sorry for the short notice, but I would love to have extra volunteers on hand for Monday and Tuesday during the Pilgrim and Native American day. We will be having many fun and exciting activities both days and a few extra hands would be helpful. If you can give up a few hours, I would love to see you there. Thanks for all you do!!

Homework for 11/8-11/12

Hello Parents:
Hope you all had a nice weekend. Here is the homework for this week. I will always post homework on Monday, and it will always be due on Friday. You just need to send any writing to school with your child in order for them to get credit for homework. If your child chooses to do activities on the computer, just send a note saying what they did and that they did the reading. If you have questions, give me a call or an e-mail so I can clarify!!! OK, so here it is...remember homework is supposed to reinforce what we are learning in the classroom, not be torture for you or the kid :)
Homework for 11/8-11/12/2010
*Read to a parent or have them read to you for 10 minutes EVERY night!! (required)
*pick 4 activities to complete
1.Complete section G.1 on ixl math with 80% or better.
2.Spend 10 minutes (at least) on superstar online.
3.Write or draw a picture of 10 things you are thankful for.
4.Practice letter naming and letter sounds with a grown-up or older sibling. See if you know all 26 letters and their sound

HOMEWORK

Home work will be posted to the bolg and emailed to all parents begining next week. Thanks, Mrs. Chidester

A special Thank You to all you Parents!!!

I just wanted to take a minute and express my sincere thanks to all the wonderful parents who have helped me get the classroom back together this last week. When I was asked to take this position I was a little concerned about the parents reaction. You have all made me feel so welcome and ready to take on this new opportunity. I have always known that Quest Academy had the best parents in the ENTIRE WORLD, but never did I dream you would be this amazing!!! I can see why all of you kids are so wonderful, they all have great examples!!!! Again, if you or your child is struggling with this change please send me an e-mail or come in so we can work to make this a smooth positive transition!!!

Weekly Schedule

Each day of the week we will have a different alternating activity.
Our weekly schedule will be:

Tuesday: PE
Wednesday: 1st and 3rd Wednesday will be art
